Ways to Make 7th Tradition Contributions at Our Zoom or Phone Meetings
Each group is autonomous in the way it chooses to collect and make 7th Tradition contributions to OA service bodies. Each member is autonomous in the way he or she makes voluntary contributions. Since service bodies still have regular expenses as they do their important work to carry the message to the compulsive eater who still suffers, the Brandywine Intergroup is making 2 suggestions for members and groups to continue to be self-supporting through our own contributions.
If a group treasurer feels comfortable doing so, he/she can:
- Supply their full name and address to the members who can send a check made out to the treasurer for their 7th tradition contribution.
- The treasurer would then cash the check and using the guidelines of maintaining a prudent reserve for future expenses, make disbursements to the service bodies listed below as they have done in the past.
- Treasurers are entitled to reimbursement for postage incurred in doing this service.
- Make the 7th Tradition announcement weekly, but encourage members to send their contributions
monthly to the treasurer.
If there isn’t a treasurer willing to take on the above responsibilities and/or an individual prefers to make the contributions to OA service bodies on their own, they can do so by following the guidelines below or make their contributions in any proportion they desire. When making a personal contribution to a service body, please consider the prudent reserve needs of the meetings you attend, and if you desire, please include the name and number of your meeting as indicated on the chart below.
