Brandywine Intergroup Mission Statement

To have a strong and thriving Intergroup that supports individuals in need of recovery from compulsive eating (eg. overeating, restricting, bulimia, obsessive thinking about food, anorexia, binge eating, etc.). To strengthen the recovery of our Intergroup reps and our OA members. To attract, welcome, and retain newcomers from a diverse population.

Brandywine Intergroup Purpose

The purpose of the Brandywine Intergroup is to promote the unity within the Intergroup, to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, to be aware of and serve the needs of member groups and to carry the message of Overeaters Anonymous to the compulsive overeater who still suffers, by:

  • Furthering the OA program in accordance with the Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions, and Twelve Concepts of OA.
  • Maintaining a Communication Center for the Intergroup.
  • Providing a format for selection of Board Officer nominees.
  • Providing unity of groups and organization of groups within the Intergroup.
  • Conducting various recovery events that help further the aims of the Intergroup and member groups.

OA Hierarchy and Intergroup Rep Information

OA Hierarchy

  • The duty of the Intergroup Rep is to represent their Home Meeting at the Brandywine Intergroup Meeting and serve as a communication link between the Brandywine Intergroup and their Home Meeting.
  • Each Intergroup Rep shall serve for the period designated by their Home Meeting, always subject to recall by the group they represent.
  • Each Intergroup Rep shall be entitled to one vote in the Brandywine Intergroup business meetings.
